The
North Wales Lesbian Line is the only telephone helpline
in Wales for lesbians and women in the community, and lesbians and women
in doubt about their sexuality, or experiencing difficulties relating
to their sexuality.
This helpline has been operating
for 18 years, all the call-takers are voluntary, identify themselves as
lesbian, and include Welsh speakers.
-
We offer
women callers a listening ear, a local befriending service, support,
and information on lesbian related issues and Welsh social events.
-
Many of our
callers phone us just to talk to another lesbian, and are often much
happier by the end of their call.
-
Feelings
of isolation are particularly prevalent in rural areas throughout
Wales and so the social events and networking that we organise are
very important, but we do not act as a dating line.
